Blue Moon Road is going swimmingly. You can read the first 3 pages at http://rastopopolus.deviantart.com/ , with more previews and samples coming soon. Let me know what you think!!

On page 27 and counting...it doesn't sound like a lot, but it is.

Expected release date: April '07

I'll keep ya posted.

P.S.: The art is a tad lacking at the very beginning, i have to admit...it gets a little better after about page 10, where i started using more photo references.

Blue Moon Road

Hey guys,

Well, I've been thinking about it and I'm sorry to say Leche-Botte comics are going to be scarce this summer, as I'm putting most of my energy into my book, Blue Moon Road. The good news is, that comic is going to kick ass. For one, I'm putting five times the effort into the art and shading as I do with LB, and those of you who like a good story are in luck too! It focuses mainly on 3 people: an angsty teen, a meterosexual, and a girl-next-door, and how their relationships either drift apart or become closer together. It's all about life and love and sex and suicide and family and obsession and emotional baggage and Edward Norton. A lot of it is taken from real-life experiances, and there's quite a bit of humor in it as well.

All and all, I'm liking the way it's coming together. 100% of the sketches are complete, and around 10% of the grayscale. 5 pages are formatted already, too.

You can see samples from the book here:

http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/35558307/ <--Back cover

http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/35750132/ <--panel of a secondary character. it will be gray in the final version

http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/35406907/ <--small panel of a 12-year-old date. awwww.

http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/33926024/ <-- main male characters

http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/27021361/ <-- 3 textless panels, make sure to enlarge

http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/21923406/ <-- angsty boy!

http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/21952605/ <-- meterosexual!

http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/22109428/ <-- girl-next-door!

I might keep going with Leche-Botte after this book is done, but I'm not really sure I want to continue it at all, I suppose it depends on how much I enjoy the comic book process. I'll keep you posted!

HOLY CRAP, A NEW COMIC?!

Yep. Go read it at http://rastopopolus.keenspace.com (incase you've forgotten the url)

Anyway, it's been a while. I'm going to try to make up for lost time, though. I've even started the next one. Expect quite a few updates in the next little while, kay? I'm finally feeling motivated again.

So, yeah...if each panel looks really different to you, it's because i did them on separate days, sometiems weeks apart. I kept thinking I was going to quit and then picking it up again. I'm happy with how it turned out, though, and I'll keep them comin.

There's a new comic up! I hope it doesn't encorage people to get all political on me 'cause I really don't know what I'm talking about. I just think those commercials are funny as hell. There's a new one where they paste Jack Layton's moustache on other people's faces and say things like "Who needs tax cuts"(without the question mark, even!) It was a riot.

The Boy George thing was discovered one day when I was scribbling on a picture of Stephen Harper. I hope other people see the resemblance, because I know i do.

Anyway, political cartoons should be reserved for caricature artists. Otherwise you'll just have to post dumb pictures of the person and hope nobody calls you on your laziness. Still! A picture of Harper has about a thousand times more humour than any cartoon ever could.

-P

Okay, okay...I'm a little late. I tired to get this up by Christmas but I ended up being twenty minutes late. Damn it!

Well, it doesnt' matter anyway, becaus the keenspace server is very busy and it won't be up for a while yet. Anyway, it's the shortest one ever(a measly two panels) but anyone who reads even the slightest amount of webcomics should get a kick out of it.

It was actually really fun designing Sexy Christmas Outfits. I can see why these people do it. Also, did you guys notice I do lips a little differntly now? Yup. It's not that much of a change but I hope it's for the better.

Everyone better have had have a merry christmas, though, despite this gross warm weather we've had aroudn here. >_<

-P

P.S.: Very astute readers(Patty) may haev noticed angus' ensemble is a christmas-ified version of the halloween costume he wore in grade nine(minus the safety pins.)

EDIT: I can't figure out how to get the damn comic to go up! I'm not sure what's wrong...hopefully I can fix it within the next couple days. If you can't wait, just message me on MSN and i'll send it to you.

New one up...I haven't made a comic about angus in a long time. I should do more, he is ridiculously easy to draw and fun to write about. I think this pretty well sums up his character. Angus was a really cute kid...a Super Reader as well. Damn, I wish the super reader shirts looked like that. They were actually an ugly gray. I just didn't feel like putting Angus in anything but a black shirt. It seemed wrong.

Here's some good news: There will be new comics up on Christmas, and New Year's Day. I promise, I started work on it now. I've got lots of time lately. I'm totally back on track, and I'm not just sayin' that. Expect a lot of comic updates this christmas break...like every couple days. No foolin'. You can hold me to that. ^_^

also, I'm going to add more stuff to http://rastopopolus.deviantart.com ...so have fun. ^_^

Yeah, so, I hoped everyone enjoyed the comic.
I've spent the last three weeks being totally lazy so I decided to devote an entire day to doing a comic so here it is. I'm exhausted.

Um...yeah. I think one of the worst things about being little is nobody really listen. They just treat you like every other kid, even if you have something interesting to say, like Patty does here. Also, little kids using big words is always funny, right? Calvin and Hobbes taught us that.

Oh, and, my comic book, Blue Moon Road, is coming along great. I was kinda down about it for a while(it's a lot of work) but I've got quite a few sketches done adn I'm pretty optimistic that I can have it done by the middle of next year. I'll keep yo posted!

P

P.S.: The keenspace server is going to take a while for my site to update so if you're reading this around the time that this entry was posted, then it might not be up for a few hours.
Happy Halloween! As you can see, I have a REAL comic up, instead of just some sissy "Dress Up" filler. Yup. I really went all out this time.

It was a total pain in the ass to make every panel either orange or black. Those are two colors I consider quite ugly both on their own and together...so it was really frustrating. I'm not too happy with the backgroudns on this, but that doesn't really matter.

Oh, about the part with the three guys in the suits...Stefan hasn't seen Pulp Fiction, Angus hasn't seen Fight Club, and i have no idea if Russell's ever seen Sailor Moon. Oh, well. I like those three things very much, and I wish I had a forth boy character in this so I could have added someone dressed up as a member of the Axe Gang from Kung Fu Hustle. That'd be sweet.

I've always wanted to make a Frank costume, but I know that it would be a complete fucking hassle. The Post-Drowning Ophelia is an idea I got after reading how to make yourself up like a 'drowning victim' in the newspaper. I think it's an awesome idea, really. But, for the reasons stated in teh comic, I doubt I'll ever do it.

God! Do I ever hate those cheesy-ass 'retro' costumes! Grr! I didn't even convey my hatred well enough in the strip..

The stupid suit Russell is wearing is real, and he wore it to school last year on "Retro Day", an event nobody participates in. I didn't get a hold of him to ask if I could make fun of that suit, and now i feel slightly guilty.

I hope people know what I'm talking about when I say Kisses. Those things are practically world-renowned for being the candy nobody but your mom will eat.

P

New comic up! Go read it, pweeease.

Grr. I've had this thing finished for like a day, but my computer was messed up and I coudln't put it up. Everything seems to be fine now, though.

Yeah, um. I was exactly like this as a kid...I think all kids are extremely self-centered, but oh my. I was pretty bad.

If I sound down on myself in this one, I'm not tryin' to win the 'Poor Me' award or anything. Nobody wants to read a comic with a whiny self-deprecating protagonist(unless you're a Megatokyo fan). I just wanted to really drive the point home. So I'm not looking for sympathy or anything...and it's all totally exaggerated anyway. ^_^

Except, I really did do that blow-up doll thing. I'm not proud of it, but it's true. I was kind of reluctant to include it(my whole family reads this) but I coudln't think of anything else that could be that good of an example of my immaturity...

My mom's kind of mad at me for this strip, i know that. ^_^ Not because of teh sex doll, but because she doesn't like me making fun of myself as a kid. Oddly, I do it a lot. Mostly because everyone else does, and I have to find a way to laugh at myself instead of getting offended like I used to. See, I was pretty much the ugliest kid in the universe, and my friends think it's hilarious. They say I used to look like an old man. I've learned to find this kind of funny as well, but when I my mom saw the drawings I ddi of myself, she made me look at all these old pictures and tried to convicne me that I was cute. It was pretty funny.

Um, anyway. Have fun with this comic. It took me forever. o_O

P

#23 is up! How exciting!

Yeah...I haven't updated in a long while. I don't even have a reason. But the important thing is that i'm back on track! I've already started on the next one. I should be back on a weekly schedual. For real this time. ^_^

So, um, it's a dumb strip, i'll admit. I just HAD to do a joke about beards sometime, though. I don't know what it is about beards! They just crack me up! Same with Patty and Stefan and probably Angus, too. I think Stefan started it. He used to draw pictures of babies with beards, and they were funny as I'll get out.

I doubt anybody'll believe me, but this strip has been 90% for like three weeks. But I decided it was too stupid and then gave up on it. Then I tried to go back, but I just kept gettin' lazier and lazier. Eventually I decided it wasn't any dumber than anything I've done before, so I finished it. ^_^ Anyways, next time I haven't updated for more than two weeks, I encorage everyone to e-mail me saying "Get your lazy ass to WORK! I demand entertainment!"

Okay, so I just got my first review of #23. My friend said: haha the comic is so true. Um, I'm not really sure how it's true, but I'll take it anyway. ^_^;;

P

Insanely Late Update

Yeah...I've been feelin' pretty dead lately. I seriously need to start updating on some sort of schedual. Oh, well.

I think it's funny that I have all the time in the world to do these damn comics right now, and I'm getting even less done than ever. I honestly believe too much lesuire is worse than too much work. Not that I want to go back to school or anything, but still.

Even though it's not my regular characters, I thought I'd post it anyway. I think it's a pretty fun comic an you don't need to know anything about Intershadows to like it. I hope nobody will be confused by it... Last time I did a guest spot for this comic a bunch of people thought the guy in it was Angus, so.

What is there to say about it...? I don't like the art in some places, but I guess I'm pretty proud of the grocery store background. That was drawn with the mouse, people. ^_^

P

#22

#22 is up, so you should all read it!

Actually I posted it yesterday but haven't gotten around to writing a journal about it. Hmm. Where should I start?

Well, for one thing, I hate how I'm trying to establish Russell as the 'psycho' character and yet his title page just screams 'I have it together.' I wish I'd done something weirder for the first panel.

I'd like to thank him for this comic, by the way, because honestly, I can't make this shit up. After I did the McDonald's comic I thought about doing an "Offensive Advertising" series. So I asked a few people if any companies' ad campaigns bothered them, Russell included. And he told me pretty much exactly he said in that comic. It was awesome, especially since he had no idea that what he was saying was so ridiculous.

Anyway, I think this comic is kind of lazy, art-wise. But hopefully nobody else can tell the difference. ^_^ I devoted significantly less time to insanely tiny touch-ups this time around, and I think I should continue drawing them this way. See, normally I'd color them all zoomed in and end up doing little things that are almost unnoticable once you're looking at it actual size. So I didn't zoom in that much for this one. So I guess it's not really lazy; just practical.

I guess the only problem is, then, is that I really rushed this one and I didn't do a double check. Right now I'm noticing that i forgot to shade Russell's face in panel 8, and Wayne's in the last panel(Wayne is my sister's boyfriend, by the way, who sent me an e-mail a while back asking to be in it. Oh, and you can give him credit for the line he's saying.)...but I guess it's not that noticeable. Still...I dunno, I'm not overly proud of this one, or anything. Ah, well.

...Gah! I'm being nitpicky! I hope you guys like it anyway! ^_^

It marks the end of the Offensive Advertising series. Next week's won't be a regular comic, I decided to do a guest spot for http://www.intershadows.com ...but don't worry! It'll still be amusing even if you're not familliar with that comic.

Oh, and, about my comic book. Yeah, I stopped working on it a while ago because the pubilsher I found could only do comics with a max of 60 pages. But I found a new publisher, and there's no probelms with that one! So I'm going to start work on it again. I'm not very far at all. I mean, I wrote it and it's about a hundred times longer than I expected...so I dont' have a clue when it's going to be finished. I'll keep you guys posted, though, ok?

P

P.S.: Patty caught the Hayao Miyazaki reference in #21. Did YOU?

Another boring entry with another boring excuse about why I can't do a comic.

Yesterday, I lost my last pair of contacts and I haven't been able to find my glasses. My eyes are very bad, and it's way too hard for me to draw until I can get this sorted out. So, I can't say when the next one will be finished. Sorry. ~_~

Well, it's 15 minutes past friday and if you were expecting some extra art on my site, I'm sorry.

Yeeeah...it's up. Enjoy it.

Oh, and I have a NEW UPDATE SCHEDUAL:

Updating twice a week!

Mondays: New comics
Fridays: Extra Art

Think I can do it?

So all the Love Hina nerds such as myself probably noticed I put Naru in the lineup, in front of Russell. I find it really hard to draw anime characters, which is surprising because my style is very close to it. But I try to distance myself from anime as much as possible, because I dont' want to be one of the millions of north americans who rip it off. Unfortunately, that doesn't really work. I mean, when I registered on thewebcomiclist.com, I put my genre as "Other" because it didn't seem to fit with any of them you could select...and they went and changed it to "Manga" a few weeks later.

Ah, well.

Anyway the reason I don't like drawing anime characters is because they always have crazy hair. And I draw hair quite differently...I try to limit all the hairs sticking up in random directions. So I drew this Naru, and it didnt' really look like her because I didnt' add the two hairs she has sticking out of the top of her head. And it took me so long to do that because I didn't want her to look out of place...

Anyway I still think she looks kind of out of place, but whatever.

I wish I'd made the movie posters bigger, because you can't read the top of "Sex Appeal: The Movie." It says "Carmen Electra, Pam Anderson, Joan Rivers", just so you know. God damn, the funniest joke in the whole comic and nobody can read it!

Yeah...I finished this comic at 5:00 this morning. Isn't that insane? I had it half done and I started at around 12. Anyway, when it was all finished there was something wrong with keenspace and I coudln't update. So I had to update it when I got up...which was, only a few hours ago. Heh. My internal clock is fucked.

Oh, and thank you to Danica for this comic. Because I had an idea to do the whole "single frame of partial nudity" thing a while ago, but she meantioned fantastic four specifically...so it really made it a lot better.

Next week: Offensive Advertising Part Four. If you're sick of this, too bad! Because it's starring Stefan and he's due for a big comeback. I dont' put him in enouch comics...Why am I giving the sexiest character the least amount of appearances? I'm breaking the first webcomic law, here! Well, that's going to change... =)

-P

Oh man. okay, I updated...I've been working all night on this one. Seriously. I started at like five and I just finished now. And I haven't really stopped. Perhaps this is unhealthy.

But it's finally done. In all its 17-panel glory. Horray! Longest comic yet!

Maybe I'm just overtired, or maybe it's because I spent so long on it. but I think this is the best comic I've ever done. I know everybody has their own favorite(actually, so far the one people seem to like the best is "Your mom's a one-hit KO"), but I think this is actually the best. At least as far as writing goes.

It pretty much proves my dedication to hating Axe, eh? Yup. They're total bastards.

Okay...a few weird, ramdom notes about #19...

One: I forgot Patty's hair shine in panel three, but if anybody complains I'll shoot them because it's a tiny technicality...but it's actually really bugging me, now that I think about it. But not enough to really bother me.

Two: I knew I had to draw Stefan in a pink shirt one of these days, because pink shirts are his favorite. It took me forever to do it in a way that doesn't make him seem flamboyant, because that's not the kind of guy he is. He pulls off the pink shirts so well that it was really hard for me to capture it.

Three: I had fun with the lamp. I remember in the forward to one of the Calvin and Hobbess books, Charles Schultz wrote that Bill Watterson drew lamps really well. I've payed attention to them ever since. So I guess I tried to do a cool lamp here, but it doesn't even hold a candle to one of Watterson's. Seriously, people. Next time you're reading Calvin and Hobbess, take a second to check out the lamps. You'll be all like "Sweeeeeeeeeet."

Four: The three middle-school boys were meant to be some sort of weird early-teens human versions of Alvin, Simon and Theodore. I probably screwed it up though, seeing as I was too lazy to look up a picture.

Five: The pretty girl turned out well, because if I say she's pretty and I screw her up then it would be bad. I wish I made her clothes more interesting, though. It's actually modelled after an outfit I wore in middle school(the golden years. eeeew. i hate myself in middle school.) to a dance at a different school where I only knew the guy I was going with and everybody thought i was a slut. It bugged me then, but looking back on it it was pretty hilarious. We were all so stupid back then. Heehee.

Six: Angus' shirt is my tribute to Sid from Toy Story. Again, I probably screwed it up because I didn't look up a picture.

Seven: The 50's housewife is modelled after my halloween costume last year, when I went as...a 50's housewife. It was a pretty kickass costume, even if most people didn't get it.

Eight: I remembered after I coloured the shampoo girl that i was supposed to make her hair black, cause she was supposed to be Monica! Sorry, Monica!!

Nine: Beer commercials are incredibly stupid.

Ten: When I was coloring the twins I was thinking about how much it would suck to be a really hot girl with an identical twin. Think about it, it would cause so many problems. For one, practically every guy you know would want to have a threesome with you. And that would make you go "Ew", because, you know, it's your sister. And what if your sister wanted to pose for calanders and stuff, but they'd only hire her if she posed with her twin, and you hated the idea? Oh, man!

I'm not going to get into it anymore...but...man, I'm glad I don't have a twin sister! XD

Eleven: Drawing Patty angry is the most fun thing in the world. Actually, I think Patty's my favorite character to draw anyway, so that's even better. In panel two, I think I got her famous "cold stare" right. She has a pretty killer stare!!

Twelve: Yup, that screenshot that Patty's fingering is Axe's official website. Go there if you like, but you'll probably want to set your computer on fire after about 10 seconds.

Thirteen: Russell isn't actually an Axe user and he'll probably be offended by that, but what the hell. I needed a guy, and I already used up the main two. Plus, his character doesn't have much credibility as it is. ^_~

Fourteen: The sleazy guy on the couch is wearing the girl's sillhouette on his shirt because...well, incase you didn't know, it's a brand name. And it PISSES ME OFF to no end! Every time I see a guy wearing that brand I wanna kick him in the nuts! I hate it! NOBODY IN THE WORLD LOOKS LIKE THAT. Sorry to dissapoint you. Jaysus!

Fifteen: I'm really, really happy with the dude's reaction to the 'pepper spray'. I just recently figured out how to do tears. Yay.

Sixteen: When I was drawing the guy on the couch in the last panel, I had already positioned the word bubbles properly but I made them invisible for drawing his arm. So I drew it, and I thought "God damn, that's the best hand I've ever drawn! Kick ass!". Then I made the word bubble visible again and it was covering it up!! But by then I was too tired and too happy that it was finish, so I just said "Fuck it" and put it on the site.

Oh, man. I just looked at the latest Whispered Apologies and I burst into a fit of hysterical laughter. And then it actually started to hurt to laugh. So...I think I should maybe go to bed. ^_^

Yeeeeeah. I need some sleep.

But seriously, check out the comic called "I went to high school with that guy" on www.whisperedapologies.com. It's the funniest shit ever. The look on the guy's face in the last panel is fucking priceless...oh my..

P

P.S.: I was swearing a lot in this entry. Oh no! My MOM reads this!

I think, in the history of webcomicry, this is the best excuse for not updating, ever. I didn't update this weekend because my internet was in the car in Vancouver.

Seriously!

I guess I got some 'splaining to do. See, whenever my mom doesn't want me going on the computer, she takes the internet modem with her wherever she goes. So, this time, we went out to Vancouver, and our car broke down. So, we had to leave it in some shop in Vancouver until it was fixed, and the modem was left in the car.

Yeah, so...that was stupid. I'll update with an actual comic this sunday, though, promise.

Anyway, about this book...I find it hard to give a synopsis because I haven't actually finished writing it yet. Basically, it's the diary of a depressive, misfit teenage boy, in comic book form. I don't know. I suck at summarizing things. I'll figure out how to describe it later.

Right now I'm guessing it'll be about 100 pages, black and white. It's going to be a lot of work, but I'm pretty confident I can get it done by the end of the summer. I think it'll be self-published but I might send it to some independant comic publishers when it's finished.

Anyway, I'm very excited about this! I hope you are too. ^_^

But right now, all's good!

I don't really have much to say about this comic...I mean, pretty much everything has already been said. Although I guess it could be noted that the guy sitting in the office on the far left is modeled after the bartender from Harvest Moon 64, and the young guy is named after my favorite Modest Mouse song.

But, seriously, people. That commercial pissed me off. There's so much blatant sexism in commercials these days...I think I'm gonna tackle Axe next week. I fuckin' HATE Axe.

P
